25th December, 2007 Hello to all our friends and family! Robert continues to grow at a fast rate with his favorite word being "uh-oh". We had a fantastic time celebrating his first birthday in England with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is at the stage where he goes from one bruise to the next as he enjoys exploring his boundaries. One of his most favorite new toys is Graham's new "boot" that he's had to wear since falling off a boat at work. Graham fell on the 9th November, landing six feet down on a hard concrete floor, but was lucky to have only a fracture of T12 vertebra in his back and a fractured heal. He returned to work just recently. Trudy still works full time at the hospital but in now in a position where she works four days a week with only one weekend day a month (a big improvement!). At the beginning of March we hosted a lunch with a close group of friends to celebrate the start of Robert’s life. We read poems, some old and some new, ate very well, drank some very nice wine and a friend played a tribute to Robert on her cello. We now find ourselves the custodian of a large 110lb dog called Rusty, who was desperately in need of a home, and Ann, (Graham's mum), has recently moved in with us, having obtained her "green card" this year. Sylvester our cat cannot decide if he hates or enjoys being chased around the house by Robert and Rusty. Rusty caused his own fair share of chaos when he first arrived. The funniest was Graham’s attempts at making a gangplank to get him from the dinghy to the big boat. The first version saw Rusty putting his nose up in the air and refusing to use it on the basis that it was too slippery and just not wide enough. The “Mark II” gang plank included a carpet liner which just about met with the dog’s approval. Rusty is proving himself to be a great boat dog; he just loves to be wherever we are. Graham tried his hand at roofing on our outbuildings this summer; we were concerned the old rotten roofs would fall off with the winter winds, not to mention doing a poor job at keeping the building contents dry. Several weekends and a lot of plywood later, the results are quite pleasing, however he is not in a hurry to repeat the experience. We have already seen our first snow of the season with a fast moving storm system dropping around two inches one evening. It had had mostly disappeared by the following afternoon, much to Mum’s delight. This year both Trudy and Graham have Christmas week off work, so we are looking forward to snuggling in front of our new wood stove which has been keeping us warm this winter. We hope you enjoy the picture of Graham and Robert dressed up as the organ grinder and his monkey for Halloween this year. Trudy was behind the camera, so there is no picture of her dressed in he witches costume. We hope this reaches you all well, and wish you all a wonderful holiday season Lot of love, happiness, understanding, giggles and smiles, Graham, Trudy, Robert, Rusty and Sylvester
